How Does the Nigeria Visa on Arrival Program Work?

The visa on arrival program by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) is a visa application process which enables you (the visa applicant) to get a Nigerian visa by simply filling out an online visa application form and having an approval letter sent to you from the NIS.

Let me break it down for you…..

The term “Visa on Arrival” simply means that your entry visa will be stamped on your passport at your arrival airport in Nigeria. However, there are requirements and prerequisites you must attain before you will be eligible to travel to Nigeria and to have the entry visa issued to you at the port of entry. Without attaining these requirements, you will be turned back to your country as soon as your plane arrives in Nigeria. So before you can visit Nigeria, you must have fully completed the Nigeria visa on arrival application and have received the Nigeria visa on arrival approval letter. This approval letter is a confirmation from the NIS that you have been granted permission to arrive in Nigeria and also be issued a visa at the airport of your arrival. That said, let’s move on to the Nigeria visa requirements for the “visa on arrival” category.

What is the Nigeria Visa on Arrival Requirements?

The major requirement that makes you eligible to use the visa on arrival program to Nigeria is that you must be visiting Nigeria for business purposes only.  Your intention for visiting Nigeria should fall into one or more of these reasons;

  1. If your visit to Nigeria is to meet with potential business partner(s).
  2. If you are attending a business meeting in Nigeria.
  3. If your presence is needed to negotiate a business transaction with a company or organization in Nigeria.
  4. If you are attending a trade fare, conference, seminar or workshop in Nigeria.
  5. If you intend to do a market survey for your product or service in Nigeria.
  6. Or if you just want to come to Nigeria too see what business opportunities you can exploit.

Are we clear on that? Okay.
