Types of Senegalese Visa Available to Nigerians

First of let me begin by introducing you to the types of Visa available to a Nigerian seeking to enter within Senegal. They include;

  • Senegalese Tourist Visa: This type of Visa is issued to individuals visiting Senegal for a short duration of time for leisure and recreational activities. This visa does not have any provision for carrying out any activity that can generate an income, hence with this type of visa work is not permitted
  • Senegalese Business Visa: This visa provides an opportunity for individuals visiting Senegal to perform short term business activities without incurring any penalty.
  • Senegalese Transit Visa: This type of visa is usually for periods that are very short, usually ranging for a mere 1-3 days. They serve the purpose of providing a port stop when traveling from one country to another with a third country serving as an intermediary, in this case Senegal being the intermediary.

  1. Documents Required to obtain a Senegalese visa in Nigeria

The following requirements are classified based on the type of Senegalese visa you wish to obtain.

  • For the Senegal Tourist Visa: as mentioned earlier, a Nigerian would only need for extended trips going beyond 90 days. As well as for foreign nationals traveling from Nigeria to Senegal. Documents required include;

  2. Passport Photograph: Applicant must provide two 2″ x 2″ passport photo in a bright and visible background

  3. Business Letter: A business letter from applicant’s company addressed to the “Embassy of Senegal” in Abuja explaining reasons for the trip as well as assuring financial support for applicant.
  4. Pay consulate fee
  • The Senegalese Transit Visa: This visa is not necessary for Nigerians as its limited to a very small time frame and fully falls within the 90 days agreed by the Senegalese government. Hence it serves more for the foreigners traveling from Nigeria to a final destination passing through Senegal. The following are required
  1. One Visa application form with all necessary information clearly penned down
  2. Applicant must provide two 2″ x 2″ passport photo in a bright and visible background
  3. A ticket showing the final destination as well as evidence of payment for said ticket
  4. Pay consulate fee

Senegal Visa Processing Period

A Senegalese visa usually takes 2-15 days to be processed before being issued. This should be put into consideration while applying to make sure it does not affect ones pre planned trip.
